The tourism sector is increasingly being regarded as a strategic alternative to Angola's dependence on oil, gaining prominence in the debate on economic diversification.
The Jornal de Angola published the opinion of FBL lawyers Luís Zau and Lisa Neves, and Abreu Advogados trainee lawyer Imisi de Almeida, who shared their perspectives on the role tourism can play in the sustainable development of the country.
Luís Zau states that tourism is the “green oil” of the future and emphasizes the relevance of national investment, combined with stronger organization — “bringing theory and action together.”
Lisa Neves agrees that tourism represents a viable alternative to excessive dependence on oil and points out that the sector’s growth could significantly increase the State’s tax revenues, which would directly benefit society if reinvested in priority areas such as Education, Health, and Infrastructure.
Imisi de Almeida highlights private investment as key to growth, based on a model that can create a true value chain capable of generating employment and income for the population.
Despite the different approaches, there is consensus among the three viewpoints: tourism has the potential to be a driver of economic and social development in Angola.
